SUMMARY:Market Your Excellence: Understanding & Achieving Attorney Recognition Awards
DESCRIPTION:Colorado W.O.L.F. is pleased to bring together three women professionals from the worlds of attorney recognition programs and publishing to discuss their companies’ engagement in recognizing professional achievement in the legal profession. \nJoin your WOLF Sisters online to hear from Cindy Larson of Super Lawyers\, Elizabeth Petit of Best Lawyers\, and Jess Brovsky-Eaker from Law Week Colorado and to pose any questions you may have regarding their programs and publications. \nRegister HERE \nThis presentation will be provided to Colorado W.O.L.F. members live via Zoom and recorded for later reference. Materials\, including information on nomination timelines and submission instructions will be made available to WOLF Members after conclusion of the interactive session. \nSince February 2020\, Colorado W.O.L.F. has campaigned to raise awareness of the critical role that members of our own and the greater solo and small law firm (“SSF”) communities play in nominating deserving peers for recognition within the legal profession. \nAs WOLFs\, we are well aware that\, unlike our medium or large firm counterparts\, we do not have the marketing personnel or resources available to ensure our attorneys and firms are considered for professional honors. Due to the conscientious efforts to make names of the brilliant and talented practitioners in our communities known to attorney recognition programs\, our communities have witnessed increasing numbers of WOLFs and other Colorado SSF attorneys being honored for their achievements and excellence. Without peer nominations\, no lawyer\, no matter how deserving\, will or can be considered for selection by attorney recognition programs such as Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. \nIt’s important to note that\, while nominations are the necessary\, crucial first step to having an attorney considered for professional recognition\, the process of determining who will be selected is based upon months of research into the achievements and excellence of the nominees. \nThis research component leads to one of the subjects of this presentation: what informs and influences selection committees at Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers? And\, as the potentially nominated\, are we missing opportunities to ensure information about our achievements is received by the research teams complying the information that becomes the basis for such selection? \nCindy Larson\, Publisher of Super Lawyers\, and Elizabeth  Petit\, Director of Research & Development and Managing Editor of Best Lawyers\, will cover the research methodology used to determine their companies’ annual lists of Super Lawyers\, Rising Stars\, Best Lawyers\, Ones to Watch\, and Best Law Firms. Ms. Petit will also provide an analysis of Best Lawyers and Best Law Firms honors awarded in Colorado to explain the ranking system used to assign attorneys and law firms in our state to Best Lawyers’ tier designations. \nJess Brovsky-Eaker\, our third speaker\, is Editorial Director of Law Week Colorado\, which has long utilized the results of annual attorney recognition awards\, not only as article content\, but also as a lens through which trends in the Colorado legal profession are viewed and reported. Law Week Colorado also participates in attorney recognition through its own program of community surveys and awards. Ms. Brovsky-Eaker will share an overview of those awards\, provide an introduction to media training and press relations for attorneys\, and speak to the value of articles contributed to Law Week Colorado by solos\, small law firm owners\, and women in the legal profession. \nOnce our speakers conclude their portion of the presentation (approx. 60 min.)\, we will open the program to an interactive question & answer session with attendees. \nWe encourage you to submit questions in advance during registration and live following our speakers’ presentations.
